Routing Backus-Naur Form (RBNF): A Syntax Used to Form Encoding Rules in Various Routing Protocol Specifications
نویسنده
چکیده
Several protocols have been specified in the Routing Area of the IETF using a common variant of the Backus-Naur Form (BNF) of representing message syntax. However, there is no formal definition of this version of BNF. There is value in using the same variant of BNF for the set of protocols that are commonly used together. This reduces confusion and simplifies implementation. Updating existing documents to use some other variant of BNF that is already formally documented would be a substantial piece of work. This document provides a formal definition of the variant of BNF that has been used (that we call Routing BNF) and makes it available for use by new protocols. Table of

Status of this Memo This memo provides information for the Internet community. It does not specify an Internet standard of any kind. Distribution of this memo is unlimited. Abstract The Generic String Encoding Rules (GSER) describe a human readable text encoding for an Abstract Syntax Notation One (ASN.1) value of any ASN.1 type. Specifications making use of GSER may wish to provide an equivale...
متن کاملDerivation of Abstract Protocol Type Definitions for the Conformance Testing of Text-Based Protocols
In today's specification and implementation of conformance test systems the derivation of a proper abstract protocol type definition for textbased protocols remains an open issue. Contrary to conventional telecommunication protocol standards, text-based protocol standards do not specify such an abstract protocol syntax but instead its transfer syntax, i.e., information about message content in ...
متن کاملA Concrete Syntax Derived From the Abstract State Machine Metamodel
In this paper we present a language for Abstract State Machine specifications. The ASM metamodel (AsmM), introduced in [18], is a MOF-compliant metamodel representing in an abstract and visual way the concepts and constructs of the ASMs formalism as described in [3]. Here we present a concrete syntax (AsmM-CS), an EBNF (extended Backus-Naur Form) grammar derived from the AsmM as a textual notat...
متن کاملAn Adaptive LEACH-based Clustering Algorithm for Wireless Sensor Networks
LEACH is the most popular clastering algorithm in Wireless Sensor Networks (WSNs). However, it has two main drawbacks, including random selection of cluster heads, and direct communication of cluster heads with the sink. This paper aims to introduce a new centralized cluster-based routing protocol named LEACH-AEC (LEACH with Adaptive Energy Consumption), which guarantees to generate balanced cl...
